Summer concert – Blow your Trumpets

This year’s Summer concert celebrates Women in Music, with all of the pieces having been penned by a female composer.

The centrepiece of the evening is a setting of the poem Evensong by Irish-born poet Cherry Smyth, composed for, and in consultation with, the choir, by award-winning classical guitarist and composer Laura Snowden, as part of the Adopt-a-Composer scheme run by Making Music.

Other pieces we will be singing are:

Kerry Andrew – O Lux Beata Trinitas

Williametta Spencer – At the round Earth’s imagined corners

Clara Schumann – 3 Gemischte Chöre

Hildegard Von Bingen – Caritas Abundat, O Virtus Sapientiae

Carlotta Ferrari – O Dulcissime Amator

Judith Weir – My Guardian Angel

Sally Beamish – In the stillness

Roxanna Panufnik – Prayer

Eleanor Daley – Upon your heart

Elizabeth Poston – The Water of Tyne (SSA)

Libby Larsen – Hey Nonny No! (From Songs of Youth and Pleasure)
