St Sepulchre-without-Newgate, Holborn
Part of the
We return to St Sepulchre to sing as a part of the internationally-renowned Brandenburg Choral Festival.
We have an American theme to the three central pieces of our performance, with Michael Tippett‘s gorgeous Five Negro Spirituals from his Oratorio, A Child of Our Time, Samuel Barber‘s setting of Agnus Dei to his famous Adagio and Stephen Paulus‘ beautiful setting of Della B. Vik’s evocative text, The Old Church.
We’ll also be performing some of the Renaissance polyphony that we love to sing, this time by Palestrina and Tallis, together with Duruflé‘s Gregorian-inspired Motets and a contemporary work by Jonathan Harvey.
Palestrina – Sicut cervus
Maurice Duruflé – Quatre motets sur des thèmes grégoriens, Op.10
Thomas Tallis – In ieiunio et fletu
Jonathan Harvey – Come, Holy Ghost
Palestrina – Missa Aeterna Christi Munera: Agnus Dei
Samuel Barber – Agnus Dei (transcr. from Adagio for Strings, Op. 11)
Stephen Paulus – The Old Church
Michael Tippett – Five Spirituals from A Child of our Time
